I'm a massive fan of the Gorillaz and wanted to make something that would fit into their slightly twisted world. I've always viewed their illustration style as creepy but endearing and thought a glitch effect would work perfectly! I added other details like the surrounding TV screen to feel like as the viewer you are watching it in their world. Another detail I added was the "LD" at the bottom of the screen playing off of the iconic "LG" brand.
